Yes, if you are using porcelain or ceramic tile on your kitchen floor, there are often smaller sizes in that same line that could be used as the backsplash tile. For some people, this is a comfortable solution as it takes the guess-work out of the equation. You can still add accents to that tile such as glass or metal if you desire to add more detail and interest to the design.

When installing backsplash you would usually at the end of the counter top.

Different tiles have different options for finishing the edge. Some use a pencil or a thin piece of matching tile to form a picture frame. Others come with a small bullnose piece to round off the edge.

It can take two to four days to install a backsplash. For a basic job, a contractor will spend the first day prepping the space (which includes removing your old backsplash) and installing new tile. The second day is typically spent on grouting, cleaning, and sealing.

The most easy-care type of Backsplash & Walls Tile will be either a glazed porcelain or ceramic tile, which has a smooth surface and does not require any type of sealer. Natural stone such as travertine, marble, onyx and slate must all be sealed periodically and cleaned with a stone cleaner. This is not a hard process, and once sealed these stones are easy to clean, it’s just another step that is required to keep your backsplash looking good and performing well.
